About

Hello! I am currently a registered provisional psychologist in Alberta. Prior to returning to AU as a staff member, I worked in public and private counselling agencies. My work was focused primarily on family counselling. I am more a sociologist at heart than a psychologist in the sense that I prefer working towards change in larger systems over working with individuals to help them cope within circumstances that may be unfavourable to their wellness. I foreground the systemic issue because I believe at a deep level that our society is poorly calibrated to achieve human flourishing. It needs a bit of systemic TLC. Psychologists have ‘Responsibility to Society’ as Principle IV in their code of ethics; for me it is a top priority. I am particularly passionate about mental health, so I am very excited to be working in a role that affords opportunity for cultural and systemic change in that area!

Outside of work, I am a mother to a beautiful and vibrant young lady who is approaching adolescence. I enjoy various activities out in nature – hiking in the mountains, snowboarding, and windsurfing to name a few. I enjoy traveling to conferences, learning, and spending time with friends and colleagues.
